So I was talking to a fundamentalist christian friend of mine, and she invited me to a BIBLE study–where they were going to study “THE POWER AND MEANING OF JESUS’ BLOOD”! Not the BIBLE at all! Good on her! Good on you too if you study books other than the BIBLE for your BIBLE studies! GOOD JOB! :’( rofl |

And if we studied only the Bible, you’d probably be ripping on us for our lack of variety.
We can’t win with you guys. Not that I’d really care to.

Well, I don’t know if you’ve heard, but – like the Sorcerer’s Stone – Jesus’s Blood has many magical properties. It lets the drinker have the ability to walk on water, turn one fish into a crap-ton of fish, make water into wine, let the blind have sight, and raise the dead. It’s very useful, but very rare.

Because their freaky right wing agenda is more important than being a decent and honest person. I asked a question once on here and they were unanimous in agreement that being a christian is more important than being honest or decent.

But don’t you NEED another book to show you what the bible means? Better still just study that book instead and then you don’t have to hold two books at once? The bible is SO complicated, you know, and you need something else to tell you how to read it! That’s why preachers train for so long… oh I forgot, fundamentalist preachers don’t

Unfortunately, fundamentalist Christians and Muslims have no desire to learn reality nor to place their bible into the context of real history. They only read what agrees with their already skewed view of the world.

Man! You’re doing alot of complaining today.
Do you have anything positive to say?
Or is all your work a tearing down?
The Bible does not speak on any subject all in one place.
There is a bit of info here and a bit more there.
If a book takes all the info and puts it in one chapter, is that so terrible?
Mind you, some Biblical references should be a part of the picture.

Well if one is Following a book written by some man who has given His Opinion on what the Bible (Gods Word ) says…then that’s all you are getting is a Man’s opinion !!!
To go to Bible study to study some other book other than the Bible is no different then Mormons , JW’s , Catholics , Branch Dravidian’s , satanists , pagans , Buddhists , Atheists , etc etc etc………….They all do that very same thing as well………
They to leave God and His Word out……………..
That is exactly why GOD is NOT in the man made buildings and traditions and customs and doctrines of men…..its Just men , justifying themselves and their OWN desires wants and social behaviors……its NOT of God at all !!!

There are many books that are inspirational regarding the Christian faith that are written by pastors and other people who are bible scholars. So, what’s so wrong with that? Why the frown?
I study the bible all the time, and have a library filled with Christ inspired books. Many are from Joyce Meyer. I don’t understand your hang-up.

This used to be a pet peeve of mine as well. But taken in moderation, it’s good. It’s good to bring in other perspectives on the Bible, just like it’s good to bring in other perspectives on anything you study; religion, history, math, biology, whatever.
The problem is when people read them and study them as though they are scripture, instead of in light of scripture.

1) Why do FUNDAMENTALIST CHRISTIANS like to study a book other than a BIBLE for a BIBLE-STUDY?
Like all reasonable people, we realize that we don’t have all the answers, including all the answers regarding how best to understand each and every passage of the bible. To put it another way: it’s almost always beneficial to have a second, well-considered and well-educated opinion, regardless of the topic.
Bible Fundamentalist does NOT mean Bible Hermit.
