Do not quench the Spirit’s Fire” 1 Thessalonians 5:19
When we talk about Shavuot (Pentecost) we think of the outpouring of the Holy Spirit that happened in an Upper Room in Jerusalem about 2000 years ago! We remember how the Tongues of Fire rested on about 120 believers that started praying in unknown tongues and prophesying and how this one single event has revolutionized the world ever since!
When the day of Shavuot (Pentecost) had come, they were all together in one place. And suddenly there came from heaven a noise like a violent rushing wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. And there appeared to them tongues as of fire distributing themselves, and they rested on each one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit was giving them utterance. Acts 2:1-4
As usual YHVH did everything in PERFECT TIMING as Shavuot is one of the three Pilgrim Holy Feasts and most particularly the one that marks the receiving of the Ten Commandments, the Torah on Mount Sinai. Since the mark of the New Covenant is the Torah/Commandments of Yah written in the hearts of the believers what better time to empower the emerging Messianic Kehila (Congregation or church) in Jerusalem. What a confirmation of the New Covenant which is the Torah made Alive in Y’shua and written in our hearts and minds by the Holy Spirit!
“Behold, days are coming,” declares the LORD, “when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah, not like the covenant which I made with their fathers in the day I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt, My covenant which they broke, although I was a husband to them,” declares the LORD. “But this is the covenant which I will make with the house of Israel after those days,” declares the LORD, “I will put My law within them and on their heart I will write it; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. Jeremiah 31:31-34
TORAH AND SPIRIT ARE ONE
It is amazing to me that there would be any controversy at all about the connection between Torah and Spirit since they are both totally tied as ONE. God is ONE; He cannot be divided though He manifests Himself as the Father, Son and Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit). The Son, Y’shua is the Word made flesh and the Holy Spirit is also Elohim which writes the Word/Torah and Prophetic Writings in our hearts!
“I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever; that is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know Him, but you know Him because He abides with you and will be in you. “I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. ”After a little while the world will no longer see Me, but you will see Me; because I live, you will live also. “In that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you. John 14:16-20
Wherever the Father is, the Son is and wherever the Son is, the Ruach (Spirit) is so they function as ECHAD (Oneness in plurality!) in total UNITY!
And then Yeshua proceeds to connect the infilling of the Holy Spirit with “having His Commandments!” In other words the fulfillment of the New Covenant BOTH Torah and Ruach (Spirit!)
”He who has My commandments and keeps them is the one who loves Me; and he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and will disclose Myself to him.” John 14:21
THE KEY FOR KINGDOM SERVICE
Yeshua thought that receiving the FULLNESS of the Holy Spirit was so important that He admonished His disciples to wait in Jerusalem UNTIL they receive “the Promise of the Father”. Without the Fire/Power of the Holy Spirit the first believers were not allowed to witness, preach or win souls. The baptism in the Holy Spirit is essential for Service of any kind in His Kingdom and we are ALL called to SERVE and advance Yah’s Kingdom on earth!
Gathering them together, He commanded them not to leave Jerusalem, but to wait for what the Father had promised, “Which,” He said, “you heard of from Me; Acts 1:4
In essence, to reject the Baptism in the Holy Spirit is to reject Y’shua Himself and to choose a dead religion with no power! The Christianity that developed from the time of Constantine and the Council of Nicaea was both divorced from the Jewish Roots of the faith, the Torah and also lost the Holy Spirit, because the Holy Spirit is the Promise of the Father, the Ruach is the Blessing that we receive when we believe and are willing to follow at all costs! Y’shua Himself did nothing until He was immersed in water and in the Holy Spirit!
After being baptized, Yeshua came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending as a dove and lighting on Him. Matthew 3:16
The Enormous Importance of praying in “Tongues”
The most controversial manifestation of Holy Spirit infilling is “Tongues”. It has caused more strife than any other manifestation for the simple reason that satan hates it as it is the MOST POWERFUL WEAPON in our spiritual walk! When we are full of the Ruach HaKodesh and pray in tongues, our lives become prophetic and empowered. Praying in tongues enables us to walk in prophetic revelation all day long and not in our own reason and logic! In whatever situation we find ourselves as we start praying in tongues, the Holy Spirit starts flowing and bringing us God’s Power and Wisdom into that situation. When our own words are not enough, praying and SINGING in tongues elevate us in Worship to the Heavenly dimension and the Presence of Yah (God) increases in our lives! One of the major causes for defeat and unbelief in the lives of the believers is because they barely pray in tongues or not at all. There are two major ways to strengthen and increase our faith: Meditating and Declaring the Word and praying in Tongues!
But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit. Jude 20
Every time Shaul/Paul the Apostle refers to “praying in the Spirit” it refers to praying in tongues as opposed to “praying in the understanding”. Praying in Tongues is not just a gift of the Spirit; it is the manifestation that we are filled with the Spirit! There is another gift called the Gift of Tongues which is a Prophetic Gift for exhortation in an unknown tongue (can be unknown to the people present or can be angelic).
What is the outcome then? I will pray with the spirit and I will pray with the mind also; I will sing with the spirit and I will sing with the mind also. 1 Corinthians 14:15
It is obvious that there are Angelic Tongues since it is written:
If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but do not have love, I have become a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. 1 Corinthians 13:1
Therefore we realize that speaking/praying/singing in Tongues mobilizes the Angelic Host on our behalf! When we communicate in Angelic Language, it is God’s Word that we are communicating in a Prophetic Manner and the Angels obey it!
Bless YHVH, you His angels, Mighty in strength, who perform His word, obeying the voice of His word! Psalms 103:20
When we do not know how to pray (most of the time we don’t!) then as we pray in Tongues with strange sounds and with groaning, we allow the Precious Ruach HaKodesh to INTERCEDE through us! Then we can have those prayers “hit target”, the Angelic Army is mobilized as the Will of Elohim is prayed through. This brings about a tremendous release in our spirits!
In the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words; and He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. Romans 8:26, 27
Praying in Tongues releases all the other prophetic gifts such as Word of Knowledge, Word of Wisdom, Prophesy and so on. In other words praying/singing/speaking in tongues causes a release of the Spirit of Prophesy in our lives and we become empowered witnesses of the Messiah!
“For the testimony of Yeshua is the spirit of prophecy.” Revelation 19:10b
The reason why the devil has fought it so much is because he is afraid of us becoming empowered witnesses that can dismantle and destroy the works of his evil kingdom of darkness! When we are full of the Spirit of Prophecy, assisted by the Angelic Host many people get saved and set free! When I preach in many places, YHVH gives me a Word of Knowledge or Wisdom that brings miraculous healing. Most of the time I do not even lay hands on the people for healing, the Angels do the work as I release the Word because I am empowered by the Spirit of Prophecy!
In my last trip, I was preaching and then the Lord stopped me and I felt a terrible grief in my heart. Then Y’shua showed me that someone in the crowd of about 800-1000 people was contemplating suicide. I immediately stopped the service and called that person to come forth! A woman came running to the stage where in this case I did lay hands on her, her entire body shook, she fell on the floor under Yah’s Power and she rose totally healed after 20 years of clinical depression! These kinds of occurrences are not an exception; they are the RULE in our lives and ministries! That is why the devil hates us so much because we preach BOTH Torah and Spirit, that is the FULLNESS of the New Covenant and of the Messiah!
The way that I stay full of the Spirit is by praying most of the day in Tongues and Meditating and Declaring the Word of Adonai! That was also the secret of Apostle Shaul’s/Paul’s Power.
I thank God, I speak in tongues more than you all. 1 Corinthians 14:18
When we truly love Yeshua and we want to obey Him, we desire to commune with Him in a more intimate manner and to be empowered for service. That is only possible when we are baptized/immersed in the Holy Spirit, no manner of religious devices can take the place of His Fire and Power! We are in the End Times and the need for true empowered and obedient believers is huge! In fact without the infilling of the Holy Spirit you will not be ready as His Bride (men and women).
Then the kingdom of heaven will be comparable to ten virgins, who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. Five of them were foolish, and five were prudent. “For when the foolish took their lamps, they took no oil with them. Matthew 25:1-3
In Hebrew the Oil represents the Holy Spirit. Every time that Biblical Prophets anointed kings with oil, the Ruach HaKodesh would come upon them! (1 Samuel 16:13, 1 Kings 1:39)
To quench the fire of the Spirit by despising its GIFTS and MANIFESTATIONS because of unbelief, logical reasoning or making light of it is very serious!
Do not quench the Spirit; do not despise prophetic utterances.1 Thessalonians 5:19, 20
When we lose our faith, trust and joy in the midst of adverse circumstances we quench the Spirit, also when we are ungrateful and do not pray continually. That is why praying in tongues is so wonderful! You can pray in tongues quietly under your breath or loudly throughout the whole day while you are doing other things. In fact if you pray continually in the Spirit/Tongues your mind will be sharper and you will be much more productive and have all kinds of supernatural help!
Rejoice always; pray without ceasing; in everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Messiah Yeshua. Do not quench the Spirit. 1Thessalonians 5:17-19
Blaspheming against the Holy Spirit is the only sin that Yeshua said would not be forgiven!
Therefore I say to you, any sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven people, but blasphemy against the Spirit shall not be forgiven. “Whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man, it shall be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it shall not be forgiven him, either in this age or in the age to come. Matthew 12:31-32
Every time that we make light of the gifts and manifestation of the Spirit and especially praying in Tongues, we are in great danger of JUDGMENT! When we call the works of the Spirit including praying in Tongues “of the devil” we are already blaspheming! Rejecting the Holy Spirit in any capacity is rejecting Messiah Himself! We must be careful to honor and embrace the Holy Spirit in all His Fullness! When we do not understand some spiritual manifestation, it is better to be humble and pray for the Lord to show us and to give us discernment rather than criticize or judge without knowledge. Suspicion and criticism is not discernment, it is flesh Humility is the key in spiritual matters, and we have much to learn!
A few months ago, a Peruvian sister called me because she wanted to get baptized in the Holy Spirit. She had accepted the Message of the restoration of original Gospel “made in Zion” with Jewish Roots of the Faith and the Torah but was not full of the Spirit yet! She was so hungry for the Truth (Yeshua!) and the Presence (Ruach HaKodesh) of Elohim! She was going through a very hard time in her life and marriage. She called me from the USA near the hospital where her husband was hospitalized with a terminal disease. I prayed for her over the phone from Israel and the Spirit came mightily upon her! She started to weep, laugh and prayed in tongues. I did not know that she was outside in the SNOW when the Fire of the Holy Spirit fell on her and melted all the cold out of her heart and took all the grief and anxiety away! HaleluYah!!!
It is time to defrost the entire Church and especially the Messianic Movement with the Fire of the Holy Spirit! Then we will be able to walk in obedience to the Living Torah, Yeshua HaMashiach and be TRUE WITNESSES of His Kingdom! It is time to REPENT of all pride against the Holy Spirit’s Gifts and Manifestations and RESTORE the Glory of the FIRST Messianic Congregation in Jerusalem nearly 2000 years ago! Then and only then we can make Israel jealous to have her Messiah back and invade the nations with His Glory!
It will come about after this that I will pour out My Spirit on all mankind; And your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, Your young men will see visions. “Even on the male and female servants I will pour out My Spirit in those days. Joel 2: 28, 29
It is time to UNITE Torah and Ruach, the Word and the Spirit, the Fruits and the Gifts, Man and Woman, Jew and Gentile, Love and Power for the time of the restoration of all things has come! Y’shua is returning to Jerusalem soon!
