The Bible is a pretty good book of christian fiction, though it’s not from the 1800′s.

The Bible, it’s way older than 1800 but you’ll like it, it’s funny.

Hm…I don’t really know of any from the 1800s. Possibly try going to a Bible Superstore?
Though for some good Christian fiction, you should read the Left Behind Series (either teen or aadult, I prefer the aadult series). Unless you’ve already read it…
(Edit: It’s not exactly Christian fiction, but what about the Grapes of Wrath? Or even read Pilgrims Progress; if you want an easier version of Pilgrims Progress, read A Little Pilgrims Progress.)
(Edit Numero 2: Sorry for the misspellings of aadult here and there. My stupid computer blocked out the word otherwise. O_o)

Well I do not know of any pioneer type stories but I know a couple fantasy stories, that are or can be interpretted as christian fiction.
Chronicles of Narnia CS Lewis
Lord of The Rings JRR Tolkien
That is all I can think of.

I have read a few great 1800′s stories by these authors. Everyone of their books are excellant and you don’t want to put them done. Here are some series and authors that are based on your criteria:
Deanne Gist-Bride most Begrudging, Bride in the Bargain, ect..
Cathy Marie Hake- Letter Perfect, Whirlwind, Bittersweet, ect..
Janette Oke- All of her series are basically Pioneer types
Lori Wick-I love the Rocky Mountain Series ( Where the Wild Rose Blooms, Promise Me Tomorrow, ect…)
Hope this helps

I am glad that you are sticking up for the Bible.
To those of you who made rude comments about it, how about not answering a question if you are just going to bash someone’s religion? The Bible is not fiction. Whether you think it is or not makes no difference.
And to answer your question:
My favorite author is Janette Oke. There is also Judith Pella, and Lauraine Snelling (some of her books are pretty sad though). I have read all of those authors and loved them. Try Janette Oke’s Love Comes Softly series or her Women of the West series. And Lauraine Snelling’s Red River of the North series, or Dakotah Treasures. I liked Judith Pella’s Texas Angel, but it is about a “women of ill repute” and how she becomes saved, so I advise discretion in that one.
Donna Winters is another one. She wrote a series called Great Lakes Romances. I live in Michigan, so I thought these were interesting. But they aren’t the best books ever. But they were pretty good.
I also really like the Amish Christian romances. Some really good authors in that genre are Beverly Lewis and Wanda Brunstetter. You might like those too, since they seem like historical because of the way the Amish live. I like them a lot.
Hope that helps!

Fancy Pants by Cathy Marie Hake is an excellent read. It is set in 1890 and centers around a British Lady who runs away to escape an arranged marriage, disguised as a boy. She runs away to her Texas Uncle’s ranch, where she learns the meaning of hard work and faith.
Remember, the main character is a rich girl that has never done a hard days work in her life and she is dressed as a boy…Thus, hilarity ensues as she tries to fit in with these southern cowboys. :’D
This book is great for a good read and a good hearty laugh. It also will reach down in your soul and have you question why you try to hide your true self.
Also, there is a reason for the cover, it is explained later on in the book.
