July 17th, 2009What are good books for a Christian 13 year old girl?
 I greatly enjoy reading but am running out of things to read! What are some book suggestions you would give to a CHRISTIAN 13 year old girl…I am not aloud to read books like Haryy Potter or Twilight but then again I don’t want to eaither. So if you have any good suggestions on books that don’t curse or have bad content in them, please let me know. |

Why cant you read harry potter i would say if you cant read those a book what makes you think you wont be able to talk to non christians what type of christian are you????

I suggest Eragon. It has no cussing (I’m a Christian to). Try Percy Jackson and The Lightning Thief. Also, try Artemis Fowl, Charlie Bone, or Septemis Heap series. They’re all pretty good.

sorry its really hard to name good books that dont have cursing and stuff all the books that i named are pretty kidish. u really should read like bigger kid books though no ofence but my 10 year old sis is reading new moon and twilight

Hum there is Ted Dekker and Frank Peretti, both are christian authors.
I read CS Lewis’s Screwtape Letters around your age don’t know if you would like it or not.

Karen Kingsbury is an amazing Christian author. I’m 16 and have been reading her novels for a few years now. She has a lot of good books too, but my favorite is called “Ever After”. Good luck! I hope you find a good author!

you might like The Black Stallion by Walter Farley, 101 Dalmations by Dodie Smith (the book is better than the film and I read it at your age). Also Swallows and Amazons by Arthur Ransome.
What about something like 1984 by George Orwell to make you think about society ? It is even more relevant today but had some very good predictions considering it was written about 1970 I think.
As a Christian myself I feel that I can read about things and its good to read about other ways of life and I feel strong enough to withstand that. I think the power of good will always defeat evil. Enid Blyton has some very good school series - The Chalet School and Mallory Towers. They are about girls and set in boarding schools. They will be fine for you to read. She also wrote books like the Famous Five. You might need to buy them on ebay as a lot will be out of print. Also at your age I enjoyed Nancy Drew and I dont think they had anything in them that you would worry about. Enjoy your reading !
